How much water? If you merely got the high voltage/ignition system wet, it shoud dry out without any long-lasting ill effects. If the water was deep enough to enter the intake manifold, you might have a significant risk of hydrolocking your engine, which would be disasterous. (This was a real problem in the early - pre 1974 - SAAB 99s, and could happen in as little as 12-14" of water.) If you think that there is a chance you got water in your engine, you could try pulling out the sparkplugs and cranking it over -- any water in the cylinders would squirt out the spark plug holes.
