Skip, The reason why I expect some level of warranty coverage, is that the car should be able to withstand being driven thru a puddle. My wife said that all the other cars (many of them sub-compacts) were driving thru it without a problem. It may not have been 12" deep ... I'm not sure as i wasn't there. I don't consider driving thru a puddle and hitting a tree quite the same .... Cars must be properly designed to be driven thru puddles w/o a problem.... I'm sorry ... but if the subcompacts were able to handle this puddle, I expect my Saab to handle it too. I say... back to the design table Saab ...
