The accident rating statistic you refer to is an indicator of the the average payout for collision repairs for a certain car. That has nothing to do with the injury or death rate. A more complete explanation from the Highway Loss Data Institute (http://highwaysafety.org): "Collision and theft losses are presented in terms of average loss payments per insured vehicle year. Injury losses represent claim frequencies filed under Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverages. All losses are stated in relative terms, with 100 representing the average for all vehicles in each loss category (a result of 122 is 22 percent worse than average, 96 is 4 percent better than average, etc.)" Perhaps Saabs have such a high cost of repair because they are designed to sacrifice themselves for the safety of their occupants in a serious crash. ---------- In article <VI4K3.5371$Y96.37844nopsam.rdc2.occa.home.com>, "TKART" <TKartchnernopsam.com> wrote: > Although I think it is very intresting > to see that the Saab 900 has the highest accident rating out of any other > car I wonder why that is for A car that is supposed to be so easy to > control.
