Hello, I started the thread the other day on 9-5 wagons vs. V70 Volvos. I had pretty much made up my mind to buy the Saab 9-5 when I called my insurance company to compare cars. I mentioned the V70 and was quoted approximately $650 per year, the Toyota 4Runner ($950) and the Saab 9-5 ($950). I was suprised that the Saab was so high compared to the Volvo. When I mentioned this, they could not tell me why. They only said to call back with the VIN number and that they could give me an exact quote. Thinking that this was a mistake, I called back today with a representative VIN number and got the amazing quote of $1,100 per year! Again, I asked why is the Saab almost twice the Volvo? Again, I was told that "it could be" the engine, the number of doors, etc. No real answer as to why. I know if is not due to the safety ratings or the engine or the price of the car. Is it because Saab drivers are more aggressive and get into accidents more often? Is it because Saabs are stolen more often or they are more expensive to fix? Help me! I want the Saab but simply cannot justify paying $500 more per year for insurance! Tomorrow, I am getting another quote from a different insurance company. Thanks, Bill
