I've had two similar experiences: 1. while stationary waiting to enter a roundabout, a mini minor hit my old 99 from the rear at about 20kmph. I saw him coming and had time to take my foot of the brake. No damage to the Saab except for some scuff marks on the black bumper, and the bumper mounts were bent in a bit. The mini minor was totalled. 2. Following a semitrailer in heavy rain at about 60kmph, three cars coming the other way passed the semi, then as soon as the third car passed the semi, it pulled out to pass the first two, saw me, hit the brakes, and spun. I took to the bush but the car, a large Ford LTD, speared into my 900 4 door dead centre in the drivers door. Ford was towed away. I drove away (after levering bodywork away from the tyres) with the drivers door wrapped in around the safety bar. Without that bar in the door, I would have been a gonner. Yes, I do like Saabs, but I don't wan't to put my current 9-5SE to a similar test! -- Regards, Peter Wilkins (wilkinspnopsamnet.au)
