<Snip> Doug, Not really sure what you mean. If you are talking about the timing chain (valves, cams etc). I have 2 saabs a 1986 8v 178,000 miles and a 16v with 120,000 miles the 8v is as quite as a church mouse and the 16v rattles away, I have got the parts to do the job, and I must get around to it before something goes - see the discussion about noisy time chain in this group. Did the chain go after you had the car rebuilt as it sounds like something wasn't done right during the rebuild.... If you are talking about the primary chain in the gearbox I helped a mate who's gearbox was wrecked when it let go (seems very rare), We got a box for £50 and spent a Saturday changing it. As usual its a case of checking service history etc when buying and listening for dodgy noises.... Good Luck, Malcolm Scotland Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
