Subject: Re: Tach light

The instrument panel lights are of the same type and position as the idiot lights. A little experimentation will tell you which one is the panel light... one on each side. Like the idiot lights, there is a printed circuit board on clear semi-flexible plastic covering the hard plastic of the instrument panel. The bulb twists down into the hard plastic and has to make contact with the circuit on the soft plastic. Age, corrosion, and wear take its toll. You can get to everything through the speaker hole. Just touching them can make them go on and off. Make sure the contacts on the bulb are all clean and clean the circuit board with a pencil eraser for better contact. Don't expect the fix to last forever; I've found once the initial "coating" is worn from the circuit board, corrosion reoccurs on a periodic basis... the only thrue fix is replacement. Good Luck!
