I had a similar problem with my '87 Saab 900. It ended up being a corroded fuse for my fuel pump! A non-Saab mechanic who works with exotic cars shorted my black fuel-pump relay and it started up beautifully. The problem with that practice is that the fuel pump will continue to pump fuel in the case of an accident and it needs to be un-shorted when you stop the Saab or it keeps on pumping. I looked at all of my fuses and none of them were blown. I then brought it to a Saab shop in another city and he pulled out a fuse that was just slightly corroded and popped a new one in. Sure enough, my beautiful Saab starts as well as it runs. Try replacing your fuel pump fuse and/or test your fuel pump relay. Chris > Hi > > My 1988 SAAB 9000i is not starting.
