I have a 1990 900 that would idle very high and then calm down and keep doing this regardless of the temp. The dealer said i needed a new idle modulating valve to the tune of $200 bucks it is a relatively small cylinder with a couple of big vacume hoses coming off of it. I priced on the net and found some for approx. $125, Takes two sec. to replace. I did not order but instead soaked the valve in Liquid wrench and then ran a few tanks of High test thru her and i have had zero trouble since.
