Never drive off the road to pass to the left of a driver who is signaling a left turn. (Be careful. Sometimes drivers use the wrong turn signal.) > > [etc.] > > So the first exception would appear to apply, at first glance, to the > interstates. Here on the other coast it appears to apply to _all_ limited access highways, as well as the Interstates, and from my personal experience applies in NJ, NY, PA, DE, MD, MA, NH and ME. (Amongst the other humorous laws still on the books, at least here in Jersey, is the one which gives you 2 points on your license for failure to yield to overtaking traffic.) The way I remember the law is pretty much what you've quoted above from the CALREGs, e.g. on a limited access highway of two or more lanes in the same direction of travel. I'm going to have to track this law change down. I remember it taking effect, I just don't remember when it was and the _exact_ wording. Regards, James the Elder
