Subject: Re: BUYING EUROPEAN RHD - HELP WANTED

Taillight colors (sorry, 'colours' :-) ) and emissions requirements are going to be your biggest roadblock. US is ahead of Europe's governmental emissions regulations by roughly a year, i.e. a car built to EAO standards today would not pass U.S. ORVR (Onboard Refueling Vapor Recovery) standards. This alone might be more than enough to make the idea implausible....there are lots of auto enthusiasts who would love to be driving a RHD car in U.S.; these are two reasons I can think of as to why it can't be done. Once Europe's "Stage III" requirements come about in mid 2000, the only holdup might be the colors of the lights. Anyone else?
