Subject: Re: auto heated seats

What is causing your trouble is undoubtedly a broken heating wire inside of the seat. They are thin and after man years, either burn apart or break apart. My 91 900T seats did not work when I got it, but I fixed them myself for free. If you are so inclined and can use a soldering iron and a multimeter, you can make yours work again as well. You have to take the seats out of the car, and then remove the seat covering to expose the heater grids. Start in the bottom section of the seat since that's usually where the break is. (on both of my seats, each of two Saabs I've had) Hopefully, it will be obvious where the burn or break is, and all you would have to do then is resolder it. If it's not obvious, you'll need to use sewing pins along with your multimeter to track the bad section of wire down. It's really not as difficult as it sounds. About two hours per seat, and it's very work it (to me.) Happy saabing, Eff Norwood 91 900TC-SE (Yellow!)
