Well, generally the thin heating elements will begin to show some wear. Especially an old car such as yours, the heating elemnts break from constant use. I have a '87 9000S and both seat heaters are non-functional. While it would be nice to have them work, it would be a costly repair. Basically you would have to replace the entire seat...more or less.
