Do you have a (SAAB) workshop manual? you should. - Haynes (95/96 V4) covers this too. Push the brake piston all the way in (as described in other posts) Take care that the brake fluid reservoir does not flow over. After removing the old pads you should be able to rotate the entire caliper about 1/2" at the top (both ways) around a hinge pin on the bottom. Usually this takes some force at the start, but after using some oil (NOT on the disc!) it should move freely. Are you shure you have the right replacement pads? new ones should be wedge shaped. You should have two pairs of different pads - a left set of 2 same & a right set of 2 same. Outside pads; thick end up, inside pads (against piston); thick end down Swing the caliper all the way in (towards the engine), put in the new (inner) pad with its anti squeek shim (if it came with the replacement set, or use the old shim, or leave it out all together), against the brake piston. Then swing the caliper all the way out, put in the outer brake pad (put some copper grease on the back steel contact surface), there should now be enough space for it (obviously) Check that the pads are seated correctly, the visible outside edge should follow the edge of the brake disc. Put in the sping clip, secure it with new long split pins - top one first, make sure the fold in the spring clip pushes up against the brake pads. Gently step on the brake pedal until you feel pressure, to move the pistons out against the pads and disc. Ready to roll !
