Check for visible leaks etc. With care you should see +180,000 miles out of the engine I have an 8 valve 900i (1986) with 176000 miles and although the head is weeping alittle oil at the rear of the engine I have had no problems what so ever. I will take the head off at 200,000 to de-coke it.
