<Snip> ' Bart, I would suggest the following: If you start the car from cold, take the top of the pump/resevior. If the fluid is circulating quite strongly then it's probably the rack. If its not it's probably the pump. Have somebody turn the wheel at the same time if possible. Do the same once the cars has warmed up. Just out of curiosity have you changed the fluid? I have a 1986 900 with 175,000miles and I had a leaking pipe on the rack. Once fixed I put new fluid in of the right type and the whole thing felt alot better. FYI I used to live in a town called West Bolyston, up route 140 out of worcaster (Spelling) in the early 1980's About 10-15 miles north there was a wonderful scrap yard that didn't stack cars and laid them out in alphabetical order!! Hope it's still there, anyway you should be able to get the bits you need up there. I know a freeway goes by there now, but can't remember the exit number. If you are changing every thing you may want to concider change the Springs too as they do get "tired" with all that wieght on the front. Also check and replace the upper and lower suspension ball joints if you notice a "clunk" from the front every time you go over a bump. If the budget runs to it try and fit a set of Bilstien Shockers all round. This transformed my old saab. Good Luck, Malc Scotland Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
