Subject: Need Expert Advice

Need some expert advice.....I have owned my 1988 Saab 8000 4 door hatchback for 10 years and have pride in that ownership. I have maintained this vehicle very well. Unfortunately, during the time that a repair was done at a Saab Dealership in Raleigh, NC. David O'neal Shamrock Inc, 5500 Capital Blvd my vehicle sustained major interior water damage. The next morning following the pick up of the vehicle I noticed the rear headliner was sagging and enough moisture saturation that made me think the vehicle was taken through a car wash with the sun roof open. Of course the dealership said, 'We didn't do that !!!!' Thank heavens my Insurance Company is covering the $3000 plus damages (lots of electrical malfunctions, as well) but my quandary is this. If a vehicle has sustained this amount of water damage ...keeping in mind the vehicle was in the shop for a period of 2 months (seems David O'Neal, Inc likes to take there time with tranny installations) wouldn't the car be at risk for rusting from the inside out ? The Insurance gal says....'Nope, never in my 18 years have I heard of that happening' But mois heard from a couple of reputable mechanics that, "yes and in fact this kind of water damage would render the vehicle 'useless'. Since I placed a stop payment on the check written for the balance of repairs done on this vehicle (total $4096.66) in the amount of $2096.66, I don't want to make a check good if this vehicle is gonna be worthless as a result of the alleged 'negligence'. Can anyone with Saab Savvy give me some 'feed back' ????? I'll be eternally grateful and no doubt will appear stellar in court (Gotta take these guys to court for my deductible) if I have my facts in order. Sincerely, Tricia Johnson Fayetteville, NC
