Subject: Re: Reliability of late model Saab 9-5?

I've owned the following Saabs, and am picking up my new 9-5 SE tonight '82 900 - 175k '85 900T - 150k '90 9000T - 165k '90 900TC - 100k '92 900 - 25k '96 900S - 107k and going strong There was not one maintenance issue that was consistent throughout, and I've had problems with the cars that I believe could be associated with normal wear and tear. The only thing that has concerned me is in my current 900s, I am on my third water pump, two have leaked, the first was under warranty, the second was not. The 92 900 was traded against the 90 turbo conv early in its life. It was a deal i couldnt pass up. AFAIK, the 86 or 87 models had some electrical issues, my friend had one of those and was constantly complaining, even though my saabs were fine. I have not heard of any reliability concerns with the 9-5, though the model is only one year old.
