Subject: Re: 87 900i Starting Problem

I had an 85 spg that did the same fucking thing. I've heard numerous explanations as to why it does it eg. maybe fuel pressure regulator, maybe mass air fflow sensor out of adjustment, maybe something in the cold start system. What I used to do was if it didn't start within a few seconds (always put your foot down a little when starting to minimize idle fuel circuit flow), if that failed I would try holding it to the floor after waiting a few seconds, If that didn't work I knew it was flooded! The trick to starting it after that was kinda slick... I would open the hood, open thefuse panel cover (driver's side close to the window) and pull the fuel pump fuse. With one hand on the key and the other on holding the fuse just out...I would crank until it started(worked every time) and quickly push the fuse back in. After you're sure it isn't going to die, simply get back out - put the fuse cover back on, close the hood and drive! I considered wiring a switch to kill the fuel pump instead of pulling the fuse but never brought myself to doing something so cheezy. Good luck, and remember - always get more than one opinion and try not to get taken advantage of I 've seen only few trustworthy mechanics - so I do everything myself! warren - wwanopsamnet.com Krypton85 <krypton85nopsamo.com> wrote in message news:38606F91.20F7176Fnopsamo.com... > My 87 900 is having a starting problem.
