It has to do with the fact that at some time the battery has been disconnected. If you were provided a radio code at the time you purchased the vehicle (4 numbers, maybe 6) punch that into the radio. You may need to press the on button afterwards, I'm not sure. If you were not provided that code, or simply no longer have it, you'll need to write down the VIN, which is a 17 digit code you'll find on the back side of the door (where the door lock mechanism is) and call your saab dealer. They'll be able to give you the code. However, do not attempt just any random combination of numbers. If you do and you get the code wrong, you'll have to let the car sit with the key in the on position or running for 2 hours before it will reset. Now, why is this so complicated? Anti-theft.
