A couple of items to be aware of on the '93s... The biggest problem is probably the traction control system (TCS) -- it was introduced mid-year '92, continued in '93 and was optional in '94. It was dropped in '95, I believe. TCS's purpose was to help avoid torque steer, axle hop and wheel spinning in first and second gear, but it never worked well for very long -- it's prone to break -- and it frankly reduces performance when you really get on the accelerator. When TCS fails, you're in limp-home mode and it's a pain to repair. Unfortunately, there's no good way to disable it. Something else to look for is whether the direct-ignition (DI) cassette has been replaced. Even if it's not working right, it's not a show stopper in terms of cost -- around $300, plus a new harness. They tend to go out between 85k mi and 100k mi. Be prepared for that. Otherwise, there's a host of little things to be aware of, better described on the excellent Quasimotor website (http://quasimotors.gar.net/). If it checks out well (have a knowledgeable SAAB mechanic look it over), $8500 for a '93 CSE is a good price. Good luck... B.
