Subject: Re. Jeremy Clarkson on Saabs

I can remember a few years ago on top gear when JC said he had been driving a Saab 900 T16 (classic shape) over the weekend and had throuougly enjoyed it, he went on to say that when you put your foot down in felt like you were flying a jet fighter. This was when he was reviewing the new shape (GM) 900, JC preffered the old one On Tue, 18 Jan 2000 08:12:22 GMT, vw411nopsameja.com wrote: >In article <388388CE.4E29C21Bnopsamfi>, > Sami =?iso-8859-1?Q?Gr=F6nstrand?= <sami.gronstrandnopsamfi> wrote: >> The link more specifically: >> http://www.sunday- >times.co.uk/news/pages/sti/2000/01/09/stimotmot01004.html?999 >> >> Interesting. >> > >I think that Jeremy is allergic to Vauxhall and Vauxhall Vectras >in particular and anything even remotely connected to these things >must be a bad thing in his opinion. I remember the hatchet job Clarkson did when reviewing the Saab 9-5 on the television programme "Top Gear". Basically his review consisted of "I like BMWs so there". >The Swedish magazine Bilsport wrote about the 9-5 Aero and also >drove it round a track and the Aero beat the BMW 328Ci by some >tenths of a second and the Viggen by about two seconds, so I >don't think that Jeremy was quite as objective in his opinion >as he could be, but anyone is entitled to have an opinion and >as long as he is happy with his, who am I argue. Clarkson is rarely objective in his opinions. He can be entertaining at times but on other occassions his opinions unsubstantiated by facts are boring. >For myself, having ridden my 9-5 Aero for 6000km now with about >2000km on winter roads, I love the car. With such a good throttle >response, which even Jeremy liked, you have to apply the right >foot in a moderated way to get the most out of the car, i.e. >you have to drive with your brain. Which probably explains why Mr Clarkson had a problem :) Kevin Lee home page:www.keltia4.co.uk
