Subject: Outside air flap servo-motor help

I asked for help and finally found this device under the hood. The very undersized 12V motor in a relatively large reduction gearbox had failed. There are three coils in the Bosch made in France dc motor each of them read +30k ohms. Moisture ingress was one of the possible reasons for failure. I suspect failure occured many years ago, but neither I or service shop noticed until wife complained about the smell of gas. Retail price for this small but complex device to perform a simple function (exclude outside air) around $US250.00+ retail. SAAB shop wants ca $250.00 labor. Please make some recommendations that does not include the $500 tag. It would be nice to have it functional as in traffic it excludes the foul smell of other vehicles. It speeds up warming up the cabin and in hot weather allows the cabin to maintain a low temperature. The ACC loves to switch this flap. PeterS in FL 1994 SAAB 9000CS
