Subject: Re: a saab 900S with Heat problems in Montana HELP

I can sympathize since I've driven through, N. Dakota, Montana and Idaho in the winter. The drive, to Washington, was in an '84 Turbo, which had that problem about one year earlier. This 1984 Turbo lost the heater control valve; The heater knob turned but the shaft no longer controlled the amount of coolant going to the heater (core) matrix inside the car so that the heater matrix never got any heated coolant. From your description, it could very well be this Heater control valve which stays shut as above. This valve is found on the passenger side of the firewall, inside the auto. Follow the control shaft or the heater hoses to find same. If You get the SAAB magazine NINES (330-497-0346) or the SAAB Journal (503-779-0731), they might help with advice and procedures. There is a Haynes Manual "SAAB 900, 1979 through 1988" 980 (US), ISBN_1_85010 567_7, which shows a diagram in chapter 2, page 57 of the cooling system components, including the heater matrix. If you buy this control valve from a SAAB dealer, get hold of the service department and ask for a descriptive of how to do this job. Good luck to you. srabinnopsamdnet.att.net Christel <christelnopsamnet> wrote in message news:387d4076.111572397nopsam.ixi.net... > Hello, > > I am a owner of a SAAB 900s 1984, 2.0 L.
