SAAB Specs via the SAABNET site: http://www.saabnet.com/tsn/models/2000/ts95w.html state "87-93 RON" for both the 2.3T and 3.0T. Electronically controlled engines these days won't actually knock because of the knock sensors and controlled timing. A SAAB salesman said they could use regular. The SAABNET site appears to back these up. The question I have is what are the real world effects from real owners who have climbed hills, pounded the pedal, heated the engine UP and taken MPG measurements and FELT the power comparisons between regular and premium on tanks that were filled with more than 70-90% different grades of gasoline. Is there a significant difference in MPG and power due to the presumably retarded timing on 87-89 octane regular? Of course most people who shell it out for a SAAB aren't likely to skimp on the gas and even buy regular unless they had no other choice. I'm wondering if there is anyone who has actually done so. Thanks, EugP Berkeley, CA
