Does the reverse interlock function correctly? Try putting it in reverse without pulling up on the interlock. If it goes in, the interlock rod is not adjusted properly. You'll need to pull the shifter out and adjust the length of the interlock (longer). I'm not sure of the proper length for a new style 900, so start with a few turns.
