Subject: Cylinder Head gasket for 1984 900 16V changed shape?

Well, the normal Saab story. Blew the gasket between the engine and the cylinder head. Stripped the engine and went to my local Saab dealer and bought a new cylinder head gasket. The engine is a 1984 16v Turbo. But when I compared the old gasket with the new, I found that the new one would block a lot more of the cooling channels than the old gasket. I went to another spare part dealer (not a Saab dealer) and asked him for the same gasket. It was identical to the one I had recieved from my Saab dealer (No I dont trust my local Saab dealer. They have failed to repair my Saab correctly three of the last four times I´ve let them repair my car. By now I´m rather pissed at them). So, the bottom line; Does anybody know If that gasket have changed shape during the last 16 years? Should some of the cooling channels be blocked by the gasket between the engine and the cylinder head? Yours Tomas Rapp, Sweden
