THe over heating at stand still suggests that the electric fan isn't working, either the fan motor is duff or the switch in the radiator or the fuse / relay. THe switch and motor can be checked by taking the leads off the switch and use a piece of wire to jump the connections. If the fan starts then it's the switch, if not could be the fuses / wiring or motor. You may have to have the ignition on to perform this test. A car will warm up more going up hills etc due to the increased load, but I would take a close look at the above. Also check the tension of the belts to the pump.
