Subject: Re: 15 inch rims and question about ABS was-Re: Do I need new tires or snow tires

No! Thatīs bullshit! Who tells that?! Hopefully the diameter of the wheel doesnīt change between 16" (205/50) and 15" (195/60) - ok there are 5 or 6mm, but the 15" has even the larger diameter! (Otherwise your speedo shows wrong) The ABS (Teves, Lucas) has opical speed sensors on each wheel and calculates basicly the differences and desides which "brake valve" should be opened to prevent a blocking wheel - thatīs it. It cares not what sort of tires/rims etc. you have equipped - it canīt do so! You only should use 4 wheels that are as identical as possible to get good results from the ABS - but if you donīt the ABS will work as before (leftside summer, rightside winter tires...). As long as thereīs no physically damage to the ABS sensors/brake hoses by not fitting rims (and 5.5x15" to 6.5x16" should fit) thereīs noting that can damage the system!! Greetings, and regards to your garage!
