Eddy, got the same problem on my 89 900 8i auto 134kmiles(borg warner 37). at about 123kmiles took her in to an independent saab, they adjusted the bands, double flushed the atf and cleaned out the filter and seems to have done the trick ( <£100.00). the old problem has come back once or twice but after pulling the kickdown cable a few times and locking the nuts on one occasion the cable was completely loose, its seems ok although mine does thump into 3rd every now and again. Main saab dealers have a pressure test for the correct tension re kickdown cable, also good to check out the final drive level. If your on a budget go for a atf change first and see what happens, mines smelling a little burnt after 10kmiles hard driving so its a good time to change. www.townsendimports.com has a very thorough page on autotrans servicing. if your in the uk mail me for the saab indy i went to. Nice to see i'm not the only 900 auto fan!! hope this helps richard 88 900 8T auto 89 900 8i auto
