Tom, You don't say what kind of service or maintenance you have had done on your 89 9000S, so it is a bit difficult to judge. I have an 87 9000S 5 spd, I bought two years ago with 145,890 miles. The first year I replaced both mufflers, about $225 for the mufflers and installation. I also had to replace my A/C compressor, $700 for everything, the crankshaft pulley (harmonic balancer), $260 for part and installation, upper motor mounts, $125 for the mounts. My saabtech friend installed them for free. I replaced my shifter coupler, $118, and the lower control arm bushings, $120. About two months ago I replaced the pads and rotors in the front and rear. The parts were about $250, and I did the labor myself. If you don't have one, I suggest you get your hands on a Haynes Manual. It will more than pay for itself. I think www.hdrogers.com has them for $24.50 plus your shipping. The previous owner of mine replaced the lower motor mounts. When was the last time you changed your fuel filter or replaced your belts?
