Your friend is probably right about air in the system. There could also be other contaminants in the line as well, such as water. The easiest way to get rid of the free play in the clutch pedal is to remove it from the car and have someone weld up the hole for the pushrod and then redrill a new hole. After alot of use, this hole tends to 'oval-out', giving you the freeplay. I had this done on my '87 900s and now it works great. Hope this helps. Paul
