Subject: Steering Column In-Out Play

I just bought a '97 Saab 900 SE Turbo. With the steering column fully extended and locked, I have about 1/2 inch in-out movement when I pull on the steering wheel. My dealer tells me this is normal for a '97, and that he knows of no adjustment to fix it. When I mentioned that a friend who has a '96 900 SE Turbo doesn't have this problem the dealer said that this was because it was a different year. Can anyone here offer some advice? Is this normal? The car is still in warranty so if I can make a compelling technical argument I believe my dealer will fix this. Steve
