Subject: Bad syncro unit in transmission? Any thoughts?

I have been told I might have a bad synconiser in my manual transmission. If I go from 1st gear to 2nd past 4k RPM's the gears grind. If i do it before 4K or double clutch it, it shifts fine. Is this the syncro? Does it pose a problem to the transmission? I was told to just shift early and to never worry about it. Is this good advice? Is there any other damage that can occure from this? It really sucks I cant rev my bitch up becuase it has some balls in 1st. And I can shift smoother a little bit after 4k. Would it be illogical to fix? Any comments? Thank you in advanced Brad 88 9000T Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
