Subject: Re: unleaded fuel - saab 1984

I've been using unleaded fuel in my Saabs since the 1979 model year. For the US spec cars, 1980 was the year they started with a single spec for all states -- all unleaded fuel. Prior to that (e.g., my 1979 900EMS) there were 2 specs -- one for the West Coast with the California unleaded fuel spec and one for the East side with leaded fuel allowed. I suspect any car with APC (late '82 and newer in US spec) can safely use unleaded fuel of reasonable octane. --------------------- John R.
