Subject: Knocking from Engine Valve Adjustment?

My 88 9000T's engine has been making this knocking sound. Its not really fast or anything..Although it is constant. It sounds like its comming frmo the left of the engine. It is a little bit louder when it is cold and then gets quieter as it warms. A friend told me that I needed a simple valve adjustment. Does this sound right. How much does it cost? It is exremtly bad for the engine? Is it still OK to run for a little while? Is it not a valve adjustment..Please help as I dont want to cause a problem. Thank you Brad Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
