Subject: Re: "Check Engine" - Saab 900SE

You said the the "Check Engine" light goes out *after* the car is started, but stays on with the ignition in run (engine not running)? If this is the case, there is nothing wrong with the car. The Check Engine light will stay on until the enigne is started because the computer expects certain input from the engine's various sensors. Once the engine is running, the computer gets input from the sensors, and the light goes out. Sounds to me like you don't have a problem. However, if the indicator stays on, even with the engine running, then you have a problem. Finding out what it is requires equipment that can read your car's computer.
