Thanks Tony, I have already changed the pump, it was the first thing that occurred to me too, the plastic body for the pump had loads of filings and other crap inside along with the obligatory half a gill of water. I also changed the filter which was full of evil black fuel. I really wonder if it's OK to clean the wire, and I wish I knew how to make the wire burn off the deposits the way it should. I hope some one can advise, even if someone had a copy of the wiring diagram that I could follow. I have the haynes book, but for wiring it's not much more use than a chocolate heat shield. thanks again for thinking for me..
