Had such a problem on a Audi once. After much trouble discovered that apparently good ground strap had turned to something other than copper,(read slightly higher than normal resistance) and replaced it. Problem disappeared. Tip for all you mechanics: connect a voltmeter to each end of the ground strap, run starter motor, if meter reads more than half a volt ground strap is not too good. Sometimes we have a total electrical failure, take the battery out, find that it's fully charged, put it back and lo and behold everything works. > Can't see any obviously loose connections and it has never happened when the > car is running - only when we come to start it. > Tony
