Wheeeee!!! I was able to push in individual spring fingers enough to free the slave cylinder. The rest just fell out. The locating pins were sticking up nearly 12mm, and I suspect that they were stopping the clutch disk from rising. After the flywheel is resurfaced, I'll drive the pins deeper so as to just properly locate the pressure plate. Thanks all for helpful suggestions. Someone mentioned a mail order shop (maybe) in the Carolinas, USA which provides a slave cylinder rebuild kit. Would you please tell the name and phone number again?? Cheers/Carron
