If avg. consumption is 12.0L/100KM What have you done to your car to cause it to use that much fuel? 12.0L/100KM is just terrible, the normal display for my 9-5 with 230hp is 7.2L/100KM. > 1. Why is that the fuel consumption data is slow to change? It shows the fuel consumption since the last reset of the trip computer. If you never reset it you have to drive for a very long time with the changed fuel consumption before any change is visible. I reset the fuel consumption every time I fill fuel. > 2. Do you think the D.T.E. is accurate enough to rely on? Yes, at least for my 9-5. It uses the fuel gauge sensor until the "gas pump" warning light lights up, and then starts to subtract actual fuel consumption from the volume that should be left when the warning light lights up. > 3. Why don't the Saab engineers consider to simply supply > the 'amount of gas available'? I think it is more direct and > we can judge by ourselves when to refill. There is a gauge to the right in the instrument cluster with legends like F, 3/4, 1/2, 1/4, and R. When the needle gets close to R and the picture of the gas pump lights up then it is time to think about finding a petrol station. You can also fill the tank when the needle points in other directions as well. :-) -- Göran Larsson hoh AT approve DOT se Senior Systems Analyst
