The styling and performance of the 9-5 is better. The S70 is still "boxy" looking. The 9-5 has a very pleasing shape. The cockpit is also much nicer. The only complaints I have on my 9-5 is that it's a tad soft and could use about 20 more horsepower. I knew this going in because the SE is, after all, a luxury car. That said, it will still outperform the Volvo AND look better doing it. I have a 5-speed which I prefer. If you can, look seriously at the 9-5 AERO. It's what the 9-5 should have been. 17" wheels, 230hp, stiffer (yet very comfortable), much better handling. It performs like a BMW M3 but with a 5-series body. I drove one. It will probably be my next car. I've not had any significant maintenance problems. I did have to replace the rotors at about 20K miles which I thought was unacceptable. I talked to Saab's customer service and they picked up the cost of the brake job. Saab has been very diligent about keeping me happy. Good luck Scott Turnamian
