Subject: 1989 900 suspension mods

I would like to lower the ride hight on my 1989 900GLE. I have a haynes workshop manual which in the suspension specifications refers to a "sports chassis" can anyone tell me the differences between the normal and the sports chassis? The manual also refers to a lower overall spring hight (both front and rear) for springs to suit the sports chassis. Can I just fit these lower springs in or are there other mods that I will need to make as well? thanking you in anticipation
