The power the radio uses to maintain its memory when the radio is off isn't the same power as it uses for the rest of its functions (at least its not on most cars... I've never looked at how Saab does it). I imagine that the memory power is on a different circut. You can pull the radio/dome light fuse and find out. You also might want to jiggle the fuse/box and see if you can get the radio to shut off. Oh, one other thing... Some radios have a battery that allows them to maintain their memory when there is no external power. And now that I think of it, the Clarion radio that came with my 91 900S had such a feature, because the radio was made to be taken out of the car (to avoid being stolen). I don't know if the 87 is the same, but there's a good chance it is. mark mark
