Far as I know, there is not a synthetic on the market which will attack seals or gaskets. If there is sludge or varnish plugging existing holes, or if there are false seals which have allowed the true seals to dry up, then changing to synthetic (or even another brand of non-synthetic) can clean out the gunk. I got an 88 9000T, changed to AMSOIL at 87K. No problems at 100K Dick in Falls Church Using and selling AMSOIL (First in Synthetics) over 22 years
