> This can't be unique but I haven't seen the exact same combo of thingsin >searching Michael, below I have snipped my "clutch trouble' post from a few days back. It seems to have some similarity to your problems, especially the bit about the clutch engaging with the pedal at the floor, only when in gear. I also have just a few Kmiles on a tranny rebuild. Let's share reports/fixes, eh??? Cheers/Carron Cheers/Carron Thanks to all who helped me get the clutch in and out (finally :-)It worked well for one week.It is now doing something that I find incomprehensible. When the car is in gear and running, after the clutch releases appx. 1mm, itdumps. If the foot is held on the pedal at this time (engine has died)examination shows that the clutch is all the way engaged, even though the pedalsays it should be disengaged. Now, release the pedal and depress again and the slave cylinder/release bearingwork perfectly. The clutch performed fine for about 2 days, then this problem started(driveably at first) and progressively got worse.I've tried these:Engine not running, gearbox in neutral. You can press the clutch pedal forevrand it works just fine.Engine not running, gearbox in gear (any), same results.Engine running and gearbox in neutral. Same results.Engine running and gearbox in any gear, tiny start toward engagement and itdumps....every time. Can someone suggest a reason for this?Clutch, pressure plate and pilot bearing just replaced. Master cylinder andslave cylinder rebuilt. All worked just fine for a few days. Also keep in mindthat it happens ONLY if the engine is running and the box in gear. One more think, after the clutch dumps and kills the engine, if the driver hasnot let go the pedal, examination of the clutch assembly will show the slavecylinder retracted, as if the pedal were NOT depressed.Stranger and stranger. I've been working on cars and motorcycles since 1957 andhave NEVER experienced anything like this.Cheers/Don Carron "It is dangerous to be right when the government is wrong" Voltaire Remember Waco
