Subject: Re: 900 vs 9000

Hi, The older "classic" 900 was sold between 1979 and 1993. For 1994, a new chassis / bodywork 900 was introduced (using the same chassis as the Opel/Vauxhall Vectra). I think that the last year model for the "new generation" 900 was 1997. The 9-3 started being sold for year 1998 (IIRC) and is still current. Visible differences between NG 900 and 9-3 include bumpers, shut lines for the lower part of the hatchback, placement of the rear licence plate, grille design, and placement of centre tail light. Some say that the 9-3 is a much better car than the NG 900 handlingwise, but there are sure to be some that disagree. The 9000 (larger car) was first sold for year 1985, came in a number of variants, and was replaced somewhere around 1997 by the 9-5. Someone with better knowledge of the features and years for each better take over from here .. . Regards, Robert Gothenburg (1983 900 GL, 1999 9-3 200) Nathaniel Trotter Oleson wrote: > For a Saab lover but novice, what is the difference between the > 9000, 900 and 9-3 lines?
