Okay Brad, open your hood and follow. The air enters through the air filter. The air drawn through the air tube, through the MAF and continues on to the throttle body, where it is mixed with fuel from the injectors and ignited in the cylinders. That is the relationship to the throttle body. If the MAF is bad or dirty, it does not read the amount of air properly based on all the other electronic things that are happening with the computer, AIC valve, O2 sensor and few other things.
