Brad, Your best bet is unit with the plug coming out of the back between your air filter and the throttle body. I have an 87 9000S myself, and that is the deal with mine. If you take out the MAF, just spray down through it. I was amazed at the brown crap that ran out of mine. I let it air dry for a minute and put it back in. There was a positive difference. As for your AIC valve, got to remember the mechanic is going to try and make money. I have 189,000 on my 9000, and I think I will finally be replacing the AIC valve. I will try one more cleaning, but sooner or later they do go bad. You are right about them being easy to replace. Where are you , who was the Saab Indy? Ken Washington 87 9000S 87 900S 83 900T
