I had asked several times in this newsgroup if anyone had ever used a McIntosh CD Changer instead of that cheesy Clarion. I have McIntosh Amps and that Clarion CD Changer just didn't fit in at all, I like having the stock head unit, but I didn't want that circuit city/crutchfield hunk of plastic in my trunk. So after getting no response here, I wrote McIntosh Labs a letter, I figured it would work since the car audio portion of McIntosh is owned by Clarion, so it would only make sense that they use the same DIN configuration on changers and head units, but I was unsure of McIntosh would admit that they are compatible, since they would probably want you to buy their head unit. But sure enough they said it should work no problem. Here is the Email : Mr. Lindfield: The McIntosh MCD4000 should work with your Clarion Car Sound System, but not using the fibre optic cable. Joe Battaglia Anyhow, this is for any of you who were wondering, because I searched and asked all over and nobody knew, I actually had two car stereo places tell me that it wouldn't work and that I would need to buy the head unit. So let that be a lesson to everyone , not to ever trust those monkeys at the car stereo shops, the two that I went to were supposedly the best ones in the Tampa Bay area, and they were wrong or lying...
